July 2007
After a good nights sleep in my own bed and waking up to
sunlight shining through the window, it is time to get back into
things and start thinking about Hawaii time although it still seams
and is so far away. The health is back and Iron levels are looking
good.
France was a buzz, stopping in at Ironman France in Nice – a place I
would love to get back to at some stage to catch up with Christophe
from Look Cycles and the rest of his team. Later in the visit I was
able to catch up with them at their factory just out of Paris.
Spending time away without a bike or a training program is always
hard, however Lucy made sure we covered enough country walking and
seeing sights that I was more than tired at the end of the day. It
was always nice to sit down to a glass of French wine, some cheese
and a view to die for.
After a week in Nice it was off to Avingon, another amazing city
with such culture and onto Paris for a week of more walking and
seeing sights and tasting all the delights. Such amazing history
everywhere, I can not imagine how they built those castles back in
the day.
Anyway off to enjoy the rest of the time in France.

After a bit of an up and down start to the season beginning with an
exciting race at Ironman New Zealand.
Heading over to the states to begin the main part of the year things
got off to a bit of a dramatic start and things have only just
gotten back on the straight and narrow heading towards October and
Ironman time.
The initial goal for the season was Ironman 70.3 Florida held at
Disney Orlando however after spending a couple of weeks with Roch
and Heather and the Multisports crew in San Diego it was time to
pack the car and head to the airport. While packing the car I
somehow managed to roll my ankle off the curb to the extent where we
were looking for a wheel chair on arrival in Orlando. Trying to stay
off it I made the decision to suck it up and race ending up with a 3rd
(see Ironmanlive.com for details).
Arriving in Boulder Colorado to set up shop for the next few months,
the foot has come good however the health went south. Low Iron
levels combined with altitude resulted in struggling to train and
pick up the intensity to achieve race peak form. After suffering
though Ironman Eagleman 70.3 it was time to rest up, stop training,
recover allowing the health to get back in order. So it is off to
France Europe to catch up with Look Cycles and holiday with Lucy for
a couple of weeks, arriving back to Colorado at the beginning of
July to start back into things.
Train safe
